Really interesting experience at a well-known private hospital. Patient booking in (not me) was not encouraged by reception staff to read the terms and conditions on back of their authorisation for payment paperwork.
OK. Should we go down the cooling off period as we have with some other personal contracts people sign? Genuinely a tough area, at what point should we stop assuming people cannot do this on their own iniative?

If someone is of clear capacity (as this person is), I think they should be encouraged to read the Ts and Cs. If they aren’t, then someone who is of clear capacity should be.
