The "breaking a 300 year old union would be much harder than breaking a 40 year old one" argument baffles me. What are the laws and treaties made between 1707 and the 1970s which would cause extra problems?

the unionist class up here is hooked on the eu and so has to find subtle ways of showing its bitterness at leaving. I agree, Independence is supposed to be hard work, but why should that alone put anyone off? Patronisning!
