Very pleased to receive overwhelming support at SNP Conference for Glasgow’s plans for a safe drug consumption facility. Reinforces that this idea - which was once radical - is now mainstream. We will keep up pressure on the Home Office.

It's a stupid idea that avoids helping people come off drugs and allows an assembly point where drug dealers and users easily mingle. Waste of resources better spent on addiction treatment. Normalises drug taking.

Abstinence supported by residential care and improved access to NHS psychotherapy. NOT cheap. But it the end goal must be o rebuild life so it is worth living without drugs.

Enforced abstinence is actually unenforceable.

So if they aren't being forced into it, whos to say they choose what you have suggested? And if they dont (which is most probable), they've just to keep shooting up in the street or someone's close and discarding needles in playgrounds etc?

If you knew about opioid abuse you would know that many top up in anycase. Anyone not entering voluntarily would have other options to discuss. But the default must be making life worth living. Many on methadone never come off.
