Why should a new study that is not reliable, verifiable and peer-reviewed be considered in a court of law especially when an existing volume of decades of reliable studies have shown an opposite finding?

Agreed. As I read the Guardian story, it seems disclosure from the company revealed new documents. At the very least it warrants further independent investigation, don’t you think?

No doubt a court case of such magnitude would have had expert biologists and other experts called to the stand on behalf of both plaintiff and defendant. Judges and juries may not be biologists but they can make verdict on consideration of all the scientific evidence before them.

Where potential fatality is concerned, "could" is enough cause to withdraw a product. When, in the face of potential danger to the consumer, a company decides to risk making a product available, it should be as liable for adverse effects as it is eagerly avaricious for profit.

The rich can afford organic, the poor cannot. There could be a MORAL case for say banning cotton and other non food crops that rely on such chemicals.
