I can't help feeling uneasy over this. Very uneasy. Unintended consequence is families more easy intimidated by a con's network than the judiciary. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/scotland/victims-may-get-more-say-over-parole-tgpnbm0bt?CMP=Sprkr-_-Editorial-_-thetimesscot-_-Unspecified-_-TWITTER …

And should a con's punishment / re-integration really be dependent upon the views of the victim? Surely the victim statement at the trial is the where the victim has input. Seems like a pretty daft idea all round.

For it's a simple test. Can this be impartial? No. Should justice be impartial? Yes. The two cannot co-exist. I'm Tory. Some Tories also back this. I'm not one of them. If in doubt just don't let them out. No one HAS to release a murderer.

Yeah, I'm more of a leftie and I can see the civil liberties groups finding this idea very problematic. Cross party opposition can be expected.
