This guy never learns. If you put a deadline on consultations, how can you be seen as operating in good faith? That Harper approach to forcing things through is what got us here in the first place. Albertans need to learn about our country and stop listening to charlatans. #Ableghttps://twitter.com/jkenney/status/1081249244835540994 …

I’m pretty sure the courts have been pretty explicit that treating Consultation as nothing more than a process to get through is evidence of bad faith and will get your project quashed.

It’s obvious the @jkenney knows that he won’t have any effect on this process once he’s elected. He’s setting up to blame Trudeau after he gets in and nothing changes.

How could you not have a deadline? Just let consultation go on forever?

They will be over when they are over. If I told you I was here to sincerely listen and fix issues, but it had to be done by 2pm, would that be sincere consultation? The court ruled it is not. Putting a deadline would scuttle the whole project.

Not having deadline i a way to never get a project off the ground. Everything in life has deadlines, they are the most effective way for people to get things done. If you are arguing for reasonable v unreasonable deadlines I could understand.

Ok Darcy. Let’s adjourn this and revisit in a year. We will see if you or I prove to be right. I predict that TMX will satisfy the courts ruling and resume construction before next winter. You say it will never happen. I say you are wrong. I guess we will see.

I never said that, I am saying people and projects require deadlines. I'm also saying a reasonable deadline doesn't preclude sincerity.

People and projects need deadlines if you are at the mercy of investors and private interests. A decade of failed consultations led us to this situation, and only govt can see this through

And you don't see the problem with only government can see large projects through? This isn't a Harper Government failure, it's a government failure spanning at least two governments, 6 if you include the provincial govts involved.

That is nonsensical. Consultations on major projects are on-going throughout the construction phase and through operations. You would do well to inform yourself further on the topics you tweet about.
