If Oxford students replace clapping with "jazz hands" to protect some from anxiety, then those students will find clapping even more traumatizing after they leave Oxford. Safetyism backfires in the long run.https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/oxford-students-vote-to-replace-clapping-with-silent-jazz-hands-w25dsspd0 …

This is really getting scary. It sounds like a bad joke. How foolish.

How can anyone get through life being traumatized by clapping? What is happening on this planet?

A relatively reasonable explanation I've once heard is that the clapping sound would be aggressive to people subjected to home violence, as it sounds as slapping. Kind of a pan claging on the floor for a soldier with severe PSTD. But I dont know how many people they are.

I actually find "Jazz Hands" very anxiety inducing. Maybe they can just whittle it down to non aggressive blinking?

How is this a thing...? And, I mean that in the deepest sense it can be taken.

Better question, why should anyone literally anyone care one way or the other. Notice this is all this clown focuses on. Obscure stories like this only happening at the elitist of elite universities to complain and strawman as if it's happening everywhere.

What is so concerning is that this is taking place in one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
