In place of fear, we will offer hope again for the NHS & patients. We’ll end austerity, fully fund public health, tackle health inequalities & improve child health, end privatisation, deliver parity of esteem for mental health. See full speech to

  2. Welcome that NHS bosses now adopting this Labour policy I announced at on hospital alcohol care teams. But these important interventions will be hindered by the deep cuts to community substance misuse services. Public health cuts must be reversed

  3. Is still a twitter thing? Anyway give a follow to my great friend and shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health in Scotland - she’s doing brilliant work running rings round the hopeless SNP health minister on the state of the NHS in Scotland

  4. It seems pretty obvious that if your GP thinks you are so ill you need an ambulance then it really must be an emergency. Leaving seriously sick patients to wait like this is an outrage.

  5. Damning revelations from ⁦⁩ - while Tory MPs are busy tweeting about the NHS here we learn seriously sick patients are left stranded waiting for an ambulance even though their GP called for it

Labour on NHS stats: “Thanks to efforts of staff services are not quite as bad as last year... But let’s be under no illusion: hospitals remain dangerously overcrowded, nearly 40,000 patients have had to wait in backed up ambulances... This is still unacceptable”

No it does not. If these appointments were kept the costs of treatment would likely exceed this theoretical cost. Its the wrong argument to make to tackle this issue. It should be about wasting time and making it harder for sick ppl to get appointments.

We need a Labour government to end the cuts, austerity and privatisation as we rebuild, restore and reinstate a universal, publicly provided National Health Service for all. It’s what patients want, it’s what staff need and it’s what we’ll deliver

  18. And as we headed into winter we highlighted the immense pressures our NHS is under with beds cut, social care savaged and chronic staff shortages including falling GP numbers. Oh and we had a bit of fun with the new Health Secretary. Happy New Year folks!
