I understand overall crime rate is falling due to the shutdown and shelter in place, but how about some stats on the criminals who've been released? Seems more relevant to me

There are dozens of similar reports that use updated data and come to the same conclusion. You’re more than welcome to research it yourself. You were asking for data that shows this is more than a 3 week case study, and I provided some. Come to whatever conclusion you like.

Wrong. He is talking about the San Francisco jail population decreasing form Jan-Mar, and the SF crime rate decreasing as well (inferring a direct correlation). I asked for stats on the 400 criminals or whatever it is released in SF

The data says releasing people from prison does not cause the crime rate to go up. That data is based on state, regional, and nat’l studies, including in California. If you wanna arrive at a conclusion based on a 400 person sample size during a pandemic idk what to tell you man.

That's exactly my point, which is that he's projecting this conclusion based on a 400 person sample size during a pandemic! Lol

Except he’s not. He’s basing his take on previous research and objective data, as well as gathering information from his local community. Just saying on Twitter that you think it’s dangerous for prisoners to be released doesn’t mean it is lmao. You gotta back it up w/ numbers.

Mr Cat, you’re a bit all over- I’m not sure what a direct correlation is, either. What Chesa is saying is that decreasing jail pop’s was necessary to curtail disease spread. The vociferous fears of an increase in crime rates have not appeared. That’s his point, not any causation
