There are two huge red flags in Pete's resume.

-
-
First, there is an over-emphasis on credentials and an under-emphasis on accomplishments.

This is a subtle distinction for some people, but it is the difference between someone saying that they flew thousands of miles as Secretary of State and someone who brokered a lasting peace between Israel and the Arab countries.

It is the difference between being mayor of a small town--one with many plans and programs--and being the man who revitalized his his small town and put it on the map as a world treasure.

(Note that military service in a war zone is just that, and only that. While we honor the service, it does not mean that the person who served is better or more accomplished than anyone else.

And in the absence of evidence to the contrary, it doesn't mean that the person accomplished much. LBJ got a Silver Star from his "service" in WW2 because he flew on bomber mission. Nixon came home a war hero, even though it appears that he spent the whole war playing poker.)

From his resume, it appears that Pete! has spent a lifetime chasing activities that look good on a resume, but is real thin on actual accomplishments.

It is like this claim that Pete! can speak multiple languages. Wow, if true, but it isn't true at all.

Here there is also craftiness on his part: Pete parades his quite limited language skills to others who are monolingual to make them believe that he is multilingual, but has apparently never made that claim. Notably, he has never refuted that claim either.

So, as a hiring manager, I might just interview Pete! if for no other reasons than for gags, to see if he was for real. But I would be looking critically at his resume to see if he was up to the challenges of the job.

It is true that Pete's resume shows that he is bright and a quick study, but it doesn't show much else. Most importantly for this discussion, while Pete's resume shows that he has ticked the box for executive experience, it doesn't show much of any accomplishment there.
Show this thread -
The rejoinder to that is, "Well of course it doesn't! He's just a small town mayor." But that's the point. You don't hire someone who's only credential is managing a mom-and-pop store to run a multi-national corporation.

Which brings me to the second red flag in Pete's resume: It screams of unbridled ambition. Here is someone who was spent a lifetime ticking all the boxes. Most hiring managers would take a hard pass on someone like this, because he is just there to tick another box.

He won't stay for long. His only concern for the job will be what will look good. Worst of all, he may be seeking to replace you.

I really don't want someone for president who's main qualifications for the job are that he is a marketing whiz, has spent his whole life grooming his resume to be president, and is reasonable bright.
Show this thread -
I want someone with a proven track record of political accomplishment who has spent his/her life in service to something beyond their own ambition or greed.
Show this thread -
While this may be a tall order in modern politics, even Tulsi comes out ahead of Pete! by this measure.

So, I want to see something more from Pete! than just him being articulate, him offering up plans that are in many cases bat guano crazy ("But he thinks out of the box!" Shoot me, please.), and him offering worn-out platitudes that the press thinks are genius.

(I have already acknowledged that Pete! has plans and programs in place in South Bend, and he may have even made something of a mark there. But it's like this:

Chairman: "Our company is billions of dollars in debt. Meanwhile, all our product lines are failing and our brand name has been tarnished beyond possible repair. What evidence do you have that shows you might be able to turn our company around?"

Pete!: "Well, I put up a new sign at my parent store ...")
