We’ve been advised there was no emergency at Pickering Nuclear this morning and the province-wide alert message was sent in error. I know many @CityOfToronto residents - especially those who live near Pickering - were unnecessarily alarmed by this alert.
I join Pickering @MayorDaveRyan in calling for a full investigation into why this error occurred because there are far too many unanswered questions.
We need to learn from this to avoid a repetition.

I agree. Im a Toronto resident in the West Rouge area. Very relieved it was an error but agree that more details are needed for the public
The pickering nuclear power plant is nearly 50 years old, one of the world’s oldest, and last ‘known major incident’ was when it leaked radioactive water in 2014. It needs to be decommissioned and waste safely removed from the area. #Nuclear plants should not be located in a city
