One component of NYC's on-street carshare expansion that stands out: the introduction of Truqit, a rental pick-up truck startup. Seems genuinely capable of taking smaller vans off the street.

All sorts of confused. What makes this newsworthy? (Haven't cars always served a social purpose in L.A.?) Why should any of us care? (Isn't this normal there? )And why didn't the writer mention anything about cars' contribution to climate change? (Isn't that important to note?)

Today was a first: the street sweeper on my block was led by a Sanitation officer, and most of the cars drove off. But what kind of system are we creating when a cop has to literally lead a cleaning agent, so it's not interfered with?

This morning, I saw a transit enforcement agent writing a ticket for a Budweiser truck parked in a bus stop, during the morning rush. A few minutes later, the truck left, drove up the avenue, and parked... at the next bus stop. Super efficient and flawless system we got here.

Going to pause before The Legend of Korra — lots of other animation to catch up on. But wow, the feelings of ~youth~ with this world.

Yesterday I completed what had to be one of the best TV-watching experiences I can remember, from start to finish. Truly wholesome and entertaining—overall just left being so happy it exists. (And also wishing it existed as a kid.) Folks, I finished Avatar: The Last Airbender.

For what it's worth, sure a carshare pilot didn't suffer well during a pandemic, when folks' concepts of hygiene/personal space dramatically changed as well as their travel patterns. Data from this last year is probably very different than the two before that.

Today we announced the expansion of our citywide carshare program. This 5-year pilot has proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions & personal car ownership. Our ambitious goal for 2023 is to add several hundred more spaces by working with @Zipcar, @Getaround & @truqit.

Three Carshare parking only other no standing any time signs. One for zipcar, one for getaround and one for truqit.

Each one of these drops are just devastating.

Atlantic Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, before-and-after the street’s “widening and modernization” immediately following WWII. In the years before the widening, the neighborhoods of eastern Brooklyn began to overtake Harlem as the largest Black community in New York City.

For the record: I think Boris got his charges mixed up here, and is referring to the ULEZ (Ultra Low-Emission Zone), which charges older, polluting cars. Who said anything about cleaning up car fleets?

Take it from PM @BorisJohnson, a NYC native who also served as Mayor of London - one of only a few cities worldwide that has Congestion Pricing: It’s just an extra burden on taxpayers. New York should NOT DO IT!

This happens the most with the American Rescue Plan, the infrastructure bill, and the Inflation Reduction Act. Tons of things happening from those trillions of dollars worth of spending that are unfolding everyday - and yet, I feel like I’m breaking the news to folks.

Pretty remarkable how often I tell even the most left of friends about stuff Biden has passed since taking office.

Now, this is either the fault of folks not paying attention to policy - or the Biden administration doing a sloppy job with comms. In my opinion? It’s a little from column A, a little from column B.

Folks, some important news: Moynihan Train Hall now has organized queues, with retractable belt barrier stanchions. Like, what you see at the airport and concerts. A small, but notable, fix.
