Germany tests a LOT. They are containing the virus. Why Germany? "Germany does not have a public health laboratory that would restrict other labs from doing the tests. So we had an open market from the beginning." https://www.npr.org/2020/03/25/820595489/why-germanys-coronavirus-death-rate-is-far-lower-than-in-other-countries?fbclid=IwAR0oL6MxCWM-FJ-1cU8pDWBU0-0yjwCrQZCHMyYnLfKK0-3hoNKvqVPR6rw … The US, sadly, had the opposite:pic.twitter.com/Gtwj8bM2lA

    The Red Tape Pandemic
Let's learn from this pandemic: regulations do real harm! They have delayed test kits, “telehealth", and hospital innovation, making the coronavirus pandemic worse. They set America backs months.

Or, you know, we could have a public health laboratory that doesn't restrict other labs from doing the tests and be even better off.

Yes, we also didn't have enough reagent and testing kits stockpiled. South Korea had a stockpile ready.

Europe isn't tied in knots over liability law - that is part of the difference as well.

Yea, I am tired of hearing how the US healthcare system is "capitalist". We have lots of bureaucratic controls. Germany does have universal coverage with government subsidies, but it also has no equivalent of Medicare or VA, and in several ways is less regulated.

Our healthcare is by the government. The amount of regulation gives the government more or less complete control
