The NEA and its rank and file think they have all the answers. We know, of course, they are just protecting their turf. I have met home school graduates who run rings around their public school counterparts.

And they learn more in much less time, giving them increased recreation time.

I'm not against the idea of choice, BUT I think what you have to keep in mind is that the charter schools also get to pick their students. Almost anyone could run a school that looks better than public when they get to cherry-pick the best ones FROM the public.

Okay... Got to the "lottery" part, but STILL--who enters their kids into the lottery? It's informed parents who CARE about their kids' education. In other words, parents who are engaged and involved. Those kids are going to do better no matter which school they're in.
