Accurate, and I saw her do this over and over again. Surprising behavior from someone in a position of trust.

Religious doctrine does not supercede a person's right to bodily integrity. Maybe, just maybe, your 'religious practice' is just disgusting and should be condemned.

It's worrying that the narrative in the mainstream and in work training (I work in the social services) is so strongly opposed to FGM but not male c, despite the same being true for both. I could never do it to any future child of mine knowing what I know now. Thank you both.

What the hell. should be ashamed of herself. As a doctor myself, I apologize for her heartless and insensitive cruelty. She should retake her med school ethics classes.

does an excellent job pointing flaws in medical studies w respect to sensitivity, and it’s not wrong to see this as a human rights issue

Yes . All irreversible medically unnecessary genital surgeries performed on someone without their consent can be very harmful - regardless of gender identity.

“Mansplaining,” she says, as she dictates to men what their sexual experiences. Could you imagine a man telling circumcised women they need to “go get help?” Privileged if I ever saw it.

Isn't speaking about circumcision the polar opposite of mansplaining, given that it something that men experience, not women? Are you not 'womansplaining' when you presume to explain circumcision to men as you did?

Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.

This isn’t an issue of “gender equality” it’s about ending harmful irreversible medically unnecessary surgery on people without their consent - it’s about human rights violations .

Very intense read on circumcision. Validating that the worst thing I've ever done in my life was agreeing to let this be done to my child. I fought w/husband for MONTHS and just hours before giving birth relented. I should've stood my ground, and hate that I didn't.

Thanks in great part to the lifting of the federal ban on and the release of on Netflix, the silence around male infant and the firewall between male and female cutting are being broken down. In that sense, 2018 was a great year. Here’s to 2019!

Cutting a child's genitals for no good reason is wrong, and the reasons people give why male circumcision isn't like FGM don't hold up.

Circumcision is not necessary, not healthier, and results in damage.
