  1. One of the greatest pests to timber-framed buildings is death-watch beetle, the tunnelling of their larvae can cause major damage to wooden beams! So we are always on the lookout for any signs of their presence!

    The Old Baptist Chapel has a baptistry located beneath the floor in the main hall? The baptistry was put into the chapel around 1720 after the Act of Toleration in 1689, before which baptisms took place in the river!

    According to folklore, the grindylow is a nasty critter that would drag children to deep waters if they ventured into the shallows of English rivers, ponds and marshes. I wonder if Tewkesbury had any of its own nasties lurking in the river?
