Well if you were shooting a takedown as a boxer and that caused both you and your opponent to fall out and the fight could not go on, you would lose by DQ because you fouled your opponent. If it was MMA it would be a no contest or a Tech Decision based upon the round
Quote Tweet
@JohnMcCarthyMMA I have a question about boxing and also MMA say a fighter is on the ropes in the ring if I go to shoot a takedown on him and we both fall out off the ring and both cannot continue what happens with the fight. Might be a stupid question.

If there is ever a concern on the part of the inspector or referee, they will inform the ringside physician to take a look at the athlete to make certain they are ok to continue. We all work together to protect the fighter.

There is an inspector in the corner watching what is being applied to the fighter. Water is always permitted. So the fighter can ingest water and blow water out twitter.com/ozmanmark/stat…

@JohnMcCarthyMMA I went back and watched Paul Buentello v Kirill after listening to yours and @THEREALPUNK last @WeighingIn podcast. I noticed Paul's team at the end of the 2nd, tried to irrigate his nose. Is this something a ringside official can allow?

Yes,,,,If you have a low-blow at the sound of the bell, you should call time and advise the gatekeepers to hold everyone outside of the cage. Go through normal protocol for the low blow. Once the fighter says they are good, open the gates and start your 1 minute rest period
Quote Tweet
@JohnMcCarthyMMA in the case of a low blow at the buzzer (Stamann v Lacerda), is there opportunity for a 5min recovery either before fighters go to the corners or after that but before the start of the next round?

I honestly did not want to watch fight again. He was always a favorite to watch in the ring or cage, But loved seeing the Brazilian crowd showing him the respect he deserved with a standing ovation. Thank you Mauricio for all of the wars and all of the special moments

Binged the Docu-series “Outcry”. Have to give big time props to and everyone involved. Absolutely a must watch series. This young man Greg Kelly handled this situation with honesty, integrity and a bullet proof belief that the truth would be known

That being said, no licensed Nevada official should be taking any part in this. They should take a stand and say “No I’m not doing that” Every man involved will have to eventually account for their decisions. Sometimes the hardest road is the right road to take

They are being used in the same way boxing officials were first ‘Grandfathered” in when MMA started being regulated. You can’t have someone certified when there is no certification. Why are MMA referees and judges being utilized and have they received formal training on how the bouts are scored and officiated? Did they have to apply for certification to officiate?

Exactly that. The skill level is only what God allows you to withstand. Handing out Trauma to the brain with no ability to defend against it only makes this appeal to people wanting to see a train crash and that’s what they will get

It amazes me how someone who has never been part of the sport, never worked for one of the large promotions, acts and talks like they know something about what fighters are paid. Your “belief” that the UFC is where Ngannou would make the most money only verifies you know nothing
Quote Tweet
Replying to @JohnMcCarthyMMA @francis_ngannou and @ufc
His "beliefs" cost millions of fans the opportunity to see him fight the best. His "beliefs" aren't going to get him paid more in another promotion. This was a selfish move by Francis that results in the fans losing.

Simply put did not get released by the . He fought out his contract while still being the Heavyweight Champion. Make no mistake, Francis is in no way afraid of anyone fighting in the UFC. He is a man of extraordinary courage who stands for his beliefs

No, it is not illegal to push off your opponents face with an open hand as long as your fingers do not gouge/touch your opponent’s eyes
Quote Tweet
@JohnMcCarthyMMA is it explicitly illegal to push off the opponents face with an open hand? Not sure if Dominick Cruz misspoke or what

1. Fighting is something you do, fighting is not something you are. Let people see the real you. 2. Prepare yourself for the day you must walk away. Make sure you are the decision maker on when that time comes, not someone else. 3. Do your best, be honest about the effort

The second that his arm dislocates based upon a submission being applied by his opponent the fight is over. I cannot make every official understand what they are looking at. The missed dislocated elbow was a mistake. Same as calling the fight as a TKO

That fight was stopped because Hill wasn’t defending himself. It wasn’t until after that the ref realized he dislocated his shoulder. But by then it was stopped because he wasn’t defending himself

And that is why when you get choked unconscious or you allow the leg or arm to break or dislocate, it’s called a “Technical Submission”. This tells anyone in the sport looking up the fight that the fighter never stopped, the referee called it
Quote Tweet
If you don’t tap out, you never submitted right? So if you get choked unconscious, should you lose by technical knockout rather then by submission? @MarcRatnerUFC @lthomasnews @arielhelwani @marcgoddard_uk @HerbDeanMMA @JohnMcCarthyMMA @OnPointMMA

When the went to the program, IV’s were banned because they are a way for someone to possibly cheat by diluting their system after taking a prohibited substance. Soon after that many A/C followed suit and banned them
Quote Tweet
@JohnMcCarthyMMA Why are fighters not allowed to use IV treatment after they’ve successfully made weight

No, not if he got an equity share of the company. You have consider what he has to bring to the company to make up for that. If he does fight for he is going to get paid, so he is a winner in this venture whether it’s a good deal for the PFL or not. Only time will tell

I think it is a great move for and shows how business savvy he really is. I can’t say the same for the at this time. It is going to take time to see how positive his presence is for them and if it was a good move for everyone involved
Quote Tweet
Love him or hate him, Paul appears to be sticking to claims of giving fighters more opportunities for better pay. What do you guys make of this move, & should @NateDiaz209 accept the offer to wecolme Jake Paul to the world of MMA fighting? #danawhite #ufc #mma @JohnMcCarthyMMA
