My thoughts on the Labour Party right now. A slightly longer version of ‘knock it off, get our act together and get on with winning an election because people need us’

For months, Tory commentators, MPs and activists have (rightly) been hammering Labour for its failure to properly investigate allegations of anti-Semitism. Yet the second the Tories open an investigation into Boris, these same people cry foul. Unbelievable.

Trains a total shambles today. Repeated delays, cancellations and staff giving wrong advice. People unnecessarily delayed for over two hours due to different franchises not able to talk to each other.

No is asking the Party to unite behind the full IHRA definition and to unite behind refusing to accept any antisemitism within the Labour Party. His is an important intervention.

Britain in 2018: Jews feel utterly alienated and disenfranchised from a Labour Party they helped to shape. Muslims feel a gaping chasm in understanding and empathy and a loss of trust in the Conservative Party Britain split along ideological lines with Jews and Muslims affected.

How to apologise: not the non-apology of "if I have caused offence" and not dodging responsibility but simple, straightforward and heartfelt - and when that happens, as the replies show, people are happy to accept and forgive.

Fatuma, who I met in May, literally walks into war zone villages with a football and gets boys and girls to play. As football spending reaches its zenith tomorrow, just a little Premier League money would spread her work further and help counter radicalisation.
