    On February 27th, the German arms industry gave Chancellor Olaf Scholz a 48 page list of military equipment that they could send to Ukraine. Scholz waited until today to forward it to the Ukrainians but his office only sent the Ukrainians half the document

    If mask mandates exist, the confrontation is between the violent, mostly white, anti-maskers and the authorities. With no mask mandates, the conflict is between the violent, mostly white, anti-maskers, and people that know masks work. The authorities stepped away instead of up.

    Here's what this comes down to: Most Americans still support mask mandates during air travel. Airlines, however, do not because they're tired of dealing with the constant implicit and explicit threats of violence leveled by anti-maskers. Because threatening violence works.

    Peak stupid NFT craze. This is called marketing a fad. Works for a moment. tl;dr won’t save any industry. Well, I continue to be optimistic that something good will come from the Blockchain work, but holding breath with blue face now…

    Can NFTs save the restaurant industry or is the hype just virtual?

    I don’t have confidence the US would do the right thing here but it was a series of poor decisions that put Germany in the position of financially supporting Putin’s barbarism in Ukraine, so the right thing is obvious.

    The two said current proposals would harm the German economy and employment levels more than it would those same factors in Russia.

    Why pay a Boardmember when you call the shots and they are only there for ego association? If you want a serious Board, of quality people, giving critical input, you need to pay them. Doesn’t mean you can’t have a poor Board, who is paid, but that just means you need to upgrade.

    Particularly good post today by Ben Thompson on DALL-E (the new GPT-3 based text to picture ML model) and it’s impact on games and so much more. Cuts to the heart of A being included in STEM Will be interesting how many SF book covers arise from this.

    I think Machine Learning is coming for more than just the commercial artists among us (and I agree the good ones are safe). If you haven’t seen the Dall-e 2 work - do. It’s just a start but wow.

    Dall-e 2 is the first time I’ve felt like “oh, this is coming for all of us” (that make images for a living)

    What a pathetic waste of talent. 🤡 Always amazes me that people who benefitted so greatly from a system (and many don’t) are so quick to condemn it when it doesn’t match their world views. Clearly their success was all their own sharp wit.
