For now, it saves the Trump Admin from the blunder of promoting West Bank annexation, and leaves open prospects for a final Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement based on a two state solution, realizing the ultimate vision of a lasting peace between Israel and all its neighbors.

The UAE, , and Amb. Al Otaiba deserve credit for their historic initiative to normalize relations with Israel in return for Israel foregoing annexation. This is a welcome step that builds on years of work to advance regional peace.

Having been through the VP process myself as a prospective running mate in 2000, and again as the nominee in 2004 choosing the #2, I can’t stress these two points enough: (2/3)

Brent Scowcroft was a giant - a principled person who had no use for partisanship. Classy, brilliant, and brave. His judgement was impeccable, his insights incomparable, and his imprints indelible. Thinking of his entire family today.

“The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society. You must use it because it is not guaranteed. You can lose it.” While the president threatens your right to vote, John Lewis reminds us what makes America strong.

That language towards women has no place in Congress, let alone our society. I enjoyed working with these last months - she’s smart as hell and cares more about her constituents and country than I could adequately describe in a single tweet.

Nostalgic for a time when we could take a road trip, let alone a bipartisan one? Next best thing is to read Union. Proud of my former staffer and his conservative best friend for reminding us we have more in common than we think.

John Lewis’ unwavering sense of justice and unique, quiet determination to always act on conscience made him a walking inspiration wherever he went. It was a privilege of a lifetime to know him. There’s no better example to all who want to know what citizenship and courage means.

Congrats for doing on energy/climate what he’s doing for America after so much division: he unites – plain and simple. Not only does his plan tackle climate, but he united the AFL, IBEW, UAW and Blue Green Alliance to create jobs and save our planet at the same time.
