Unfortunately, the debt is only used as a political talking point of convenience. The leadership and majorities of both parties have proven they really don’t care at all about long term issues like the debt.

A concerted campaign needs to be launched to educate the electorate & give politicians cover they need to make the tough decisions on spending. To start, I’m sure there is significant savings from waste and fraud in our $4.1T annual spending! #kasich2020 #fiscalresponsibility

Agree! + Just like our national debt we cannot pass on future economic costs of #climatechange to our children. It's past time Congress pass a 100% revenue neutral price on carbon with border adjustments and retake a global leadership role on #climate. #ActOnClimate #EcoRight

For today’s Republican Party, Death To America *is* the goal... thru economic strangulation, criminal cabinet members, idiotic policies, an illegally “installed by hostile power” Fake President. Trump admin= Death To America ! It’s true Sir. Death To America by Republicanism.

This is the problem, BOTH parties fiscally failed in last 20 years - blaming one, perpetuating memes will not help. Demand candidates have a fiscal plan, educate ourselves, vote for those that deliver REGARDLESS of party only way we the people take power back.

I agree. But, until our Congress puts the country & its ppl ahead of their personal interests, we’re doomed to continue.

The Social Security system is self-funded. Money paid by taxpayers and employers is saved in the SS Trust, which is invested in US Govt Securities and held to pay future benefits. Are you suggesting that the federal debt will cause the US to default on bonds it has issued?

I paid into Medicare & SocSec. They are not entitlements. The #GOPTaxScam has increased deficit to pay off the rich.

John Maybe it is time for a new amendment: “A Public Auditable Study on Everything Washington Does”. But is time to ask every Congressman: “If you receive a Public Auditable Study on what you did, what will you do.” Think, An independent Audit Staff of Ohio?

@JohnKasich - I’m a former R I can’t get behind a party that talks about fiscal responsibility then turns around and does “tax cuts” 9 yrs into an expansion. Sorry, the Rs called these tax cuts...”tax reforms” pls don’t make the lame argument that tax cuts will pay 4 themselves
