This makes me happy on a personal I hate Pompeo level but for the US as a nation , it's embarrassing.

Very true but on the plus side I'm certain one reason they did this is to garner more favour with the Biden administration. Essentially they're saying "we don't recognise the current administration as legitimate so we will wait for the next one."
