“Their ultimate goal was to shift responsibility for the pandemic from the WH to states. It was at the heart of a catastrophic policy blunder and an attempt to escape blame — perhaps one of the greatest failures of presidential leadership in generations.”https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/18/us/politics/trump-coronavirus-response-failure-leadership.html …

The irony is that the pandemic, if handled competently, was *an opportunity* for Donald to broaden his appeal and cruise to re-election. His abdication of duty produced the very outcome he sought to avoid.

And it continues. Donald seems to think that if he can make it worse, people will blame the states not him.https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/07/18/white-house-testing-budget-cdc-coronavirus/#click=https://t.co/epOqaeEBGn …

A profile in cowardice, Trump's botched policy response to Covid-19 and cynical politicization of the pandemic represent a case study in failed presidential leadership.

To add, as quoted by a Trump spokesman Friday: the president is “not really working this [pandemic] anymore. He doesn’t want to be distracted by it." Existential threat to America. Now watch this:pic.twitter.com/fOB5ptYNhq

So, strong arming Portland protesters was a lame ruse to turn our attention away from the PANDEMIC? I don't know about you, but I can multitask!

I believe the coronavirus was a welcome crisis to many on the political right. It gives cover to all sorts of wrongdoing by the Trump Administration, especially the billions of funding to friends, donors, & family. "Never let a crisis go to waste." ~Rahm Emanuel
