I really like @MattLebo4's PS article on managing the pipeline. Riffing off his suggestion, I organize my whiteboard to keep track of various projects, at various stages of completion. I am actively working on 12 papers, which is probably too many for me.https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/ps-political-science-and-politics/article/managing-your-research-pipeline/E75F5F84AAD505EE6E66155EB8E9A81F …

I do this too, whiteboard based on
@MattLebo4 article. I noticed a downside with whiteboard as 0 (for completed projects) get wiped away as you add new projects, so can be depressing. So an excel file might be better, but whiteboard is better to control the numbers of projects. - Još 2 druga odgovora

I do a google sheet like this. (current coauthor responsibility for each project redacted). Target date is when I aim to have a substantive next step taken on a project (i.e. a new draft or round of analysis).pic.twitter.com/dLxcWkQWHy

Published papers get moved to their own tab in the sheet and projects that haven't moved in a long time get moved to a dormant tab.

No kidding. Great advice here. Finish your projects. Five half done projects isn’t as good as two published ones.
