John McWhorter Retweeted Ibram X. Kendi

Kendi is under the impression that anyone who disagrees with him simply hasn't read him carefully. This makes him neither imperious nor a hustler, but naive. "Dr." Ibram is inadequately trained academically, and engaging him requires knowing this going in.https://twitter.com/DrIbram/status/1340274806537789440 …

I’m glad you are open to new perspectives and ideas. I am too, as revealed in my books. Instead of speaking to me, I’d encourage you to read my books with an open mind. My scholarship and research-based ideas are best articulated in my books.

What a misread. He isn't saying he doesn't have a doctorate. He is saying that he is a poor excuse of a academic. That should be obvious.

        1) There is really no reason to put Dr. in quote marks unless either you think a doctorate in African American Studies is worth less than other doctorates, or you're trying to get a column in the WSJ. 2) It seems unfair to deduce all this from the mere fact that Kendi would...

rather someone trying to understand his ideas read his researched, composed, and edited scholarly works, rather than have "a Zoom call." Or at least expect the former to have been done before engaging with a notorious outrage merchant who consistently acts in bad faith.

He literally will not engage in any discussion of his ideas. As an academic. Jack gave this fucking guy $10 million dollars....

An academic who ‘instead of speaking to me, I encourage you to read my books’ has at least a bit of hustler to him.

He also seemingly believes his word is akin to a holy book. How will he challenge his own ideas if he never examines and defends them? That’s not a thinker.

John you're too nice. Kendi's game is insidious, and it's plainly obvious. He's not open to new ideas or perspectives. CRT is designed to be unfalsifiable. That's how you know it's: 1. Bullshit 2. Mostly a religion

It's similar to how the phrasing of "BLM" is manipulative. Verbally, it is extraordinarily difficult to express opposition to BLM (either in part, or in whole) without being labeled with the r-word.
