Like, yeah, that's the joke! Characters in the story acknowledge it constantly! Half of the comedy beats are the faculty casually blowing off some absurdly lethal threat to the children in a comical way. It's a running bit, to contrast with how we treat kids in the actual world.

Another one: Plotlines about improv troupes. Like the main characters aren't even comedians/actors, but they all have friends in improv troupes or classes because the writers assume everyone lives in New York and hangs around the improv scene. Even the show "Lucifer" did it.

Stupid people being horrible to each other is never funny to me. That's a whole genre of comedy that my friends adore and I just can't get on board with.
