What if the amount of money you paid was the same, but you got to allocate it where you saw fit? Like a dield of those thermometer fund raiser graphs. If you wanted to fund public lands, roads and bridges, and the military go ahead, but I would opt for food, shelter, education.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the implied moral and ethical indifference of capitalism.

A business gets paid only if it produces a good/service someone else want. It profits more if it produces using fewer resources. An individual capitalist may be morally indifferent, but the system is not. That does not mean that societal should not have ADDITIONAL moral concerns

The ring of the cash register is all capitalism “cares” about. Family, friends and community is core compassion. People are easily replaced at work - COGS of Capitalism. Dangerous to confuse the two, and a sign you are spending too much time at work if you do.
