    What happened? Marketing aside, GE and HP are basically the same fundamental business today that they were 20 years ago. Meanwhile, the vast majority of Amazon’s market cap today is in things they didn’t do at all 20 years ago.

    In 2000, Amazon bonds were rated as medium-high risk, compared to HP which was medium-low risk, and GE which was low risk. Today, those companies bonds are rated in....the exact opposite order.

    Amazon up 12% after earnings announced--roughly equates to $100B of new market cap. Unreal. That has to be a single day record, right? All I can find that is even close is $65B gain by Google in 2015.

    I sent the CEO of one of our companies a “great job” on a recent win. He told me credit was due to his cofounder. Sent him a note and he said it was head of bizops. Sent him a note and he said it was CEO. Amazing what can be accomplished when you don’t care who gets the credit!
