Now that Donald Trump is a private citizen, the Senate should dismiss the article of impeachment against him for lack of jurisdiction, writes @AlanDersh https://www.wsj.com/articles/no-you-cant-try-an-impeached-former-president-11611167113?reflink=desktopwebshare_twitter … via @WSJ

"For the victorious Democrats to seek revenge against Donald Trump would set a terrible precedent, distract from President Biden’s agenda, and make it hard to heal the country. Better to move on."

Key word is "precedent." If it happens to former President Trump, that precedent will be applied to future, former Presidents. A bad idea.

To call this “revenge” is completely stupid. It would be “delayed justice.”

There must be consequences before there is healing. Five people are dead, there must be accountability.

Echoes from the past - “email lady, 4 dead in Benghazi”. Non-stop investigations. She wasn’t POTUS (should have been) but there was accountability. Why do these people feel special ?

It’s not revenge John, it’s justice. And we should always seek truth and justice

We’re not talking about fixing parking tickets. We’re talking about insurrection. We’re talking about 5 dead. If this isn’t worth investigating nothing is.

What precedent? The one that illustrates that actions have consequences? Or the one that shows we don't allow treason to go unpunished? Or maybe one that illustrates we will fight for democracy against domestic enemies? #SeditionHasConsequences

I’m okay w setting a precedent that holds Presidents accountable for inciting an insurrection. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

It’s not about revenge. This person committed treason trying to over throw the democratic process. He encouraged a mob to use force at the Capital. 5 ppl died. He should be punished. Law & Order! You turn a blind eye to his crimes and to Ted Cruz as well. Shameful
