  2. The impeachment managers put the cart ahead of the horse by impeaching the President before completing their investigation, which they should've done in the House inquiry. I joined this afternoon to discuss:

  3. Democrats have said that this impeachment process is “solemn,” “sad,” and “serious.” Despite the lip service, they continue to treat this as nothing more than a partisan process meant to damage the President – even going as far to suggest a SECOND impeachment.

But at some point the trial needs to end so we can get on with legislative business and the elections.

Although we won’t vote on additional witnesses in impeachment trial until Friday, House managers need to know that both sides will have same chance to identify potential witnesses to call. Obvious choices are Adam Schiff, Joe Biden and Hunter Biden for starters.

Senator John Cornyn: The timing is a little interesting, isn't it? It's nothing different than what we've already heard. No crimes were alleged. So, I'm trying to get my head around why [the Democrats] would provoke this constitutional crisis.

Instead of retreating to political corners, I urge all Americans & our reps in Congress to resume civil debate about border security. It’s not just an issue for border towns, and USBP can’t do it alone. Our country—and our communities—deserve more. Op-Ed:

Schiff is desperate to deflect from his failure to develop the case in the House inquiry. He realizes an acquittal will demonstrate just what a fools errand this is and needs someone else to blame.

What you cite at best shows this is uncharted territory, which is exactly why it will end up in litigation.

The first week of the President’s impeachment trial is in the books – and it has been a stark contrast to the partisan, secret hearings the House conducted.

“California lost 1 million residents to other states from ‘07 to ‘16, about 2.5% of its total population...The reasons Californians cited for wanting to leave: high housing costs (71%), taxes (58%) and the state’s political culture (46%).” ⁦

Schiff’s decision in House impeach inquiry to not pursue witnesses where privilege claims are likely won’t save time, it only shifts the delay to the Senate. So much for progress on drug prices, highway/infrastructure, and much more, with the election right around the corner

Doubt Chief Justice would embrace such role in the partisan impeachment process. Instead, privilege claims would be litigated in courts while Senate waits, perhaps for months, maybe past the 2020 election. In meantime, all legislative business would be on hold.

Surprised there hasn’t been more commentary about Adam Schiff’s novel proposal that the Senate could overrule the Chief Justice on executive privilege claims should they be invoked during impeachment trial
