But to the trans person that isn't happy because of the unsafe environment fostered by incredibly influential authors this is their focus because it is their life.

What exactly has that author done to make the environment unsafe for trans people? Do you have any examples of them being attacked because of her?

Well, John, we are not being treated kindly. And I'm not talking about cordiality. I'm talking about discrimination in employment, housing, health care and other areas of living, all of which is exacerbated when public figures speak from ignorance and bigotry on trans rights.

You can't encourage the lies or indifference that normalize the lack of kindness towards trans folks and then also tell people to be kind to them. Doesn't work that way.
