I totally agree. Unless, Mr. Director, you don’t believe torture is illegal under US or international law, but I don’t believe that is your position. If so, it is wrong.

“don’t penalize her for previous policy decisions” That is a large part of the critique/hearing process for government officials at all levels. Yes, she may be a good agent and all, but we cannot ignore her past, just like every nominee for every federal position ever.
