I need to ask a question as I see this more and more, but what does #BlackOutTuesday do effectively?
It’s being labeled as a media blackout, and big names signing on, but isnt that causing a media blackout when we need the most eyes on protesters possible?

I think the idea is to reduce the noise and allow the most important voices to stand out. In addition to a show of solidarity. But honestly, right now, as someone who contributes to these sort of brand statements, I struggle to determine the right move

I just worry about the media outlets going dark when reports/protestors are being continually attacked in more brazen ways. Fine with less influencer tweets though.

True. I only know of the blackout in relation to the music industry and companies adjacent to it. I agree media outlets should be amplifying these stories as widely as possible!
