      Tell us again why the #tweet is "offending" when no direct threat was ever made - only a factual statement that the #fatwa cannot be reversed by anyone but the person who issued it? This is an IGNORANT AND KNEE-JERK response by a total idiot, and is nothing but silly censorship.

      Not on @twitter they aren't. This is supposed to be a platform for the free exchange of ideas and information. No threat of violence was ever conveyed in the "offending" tweet that @yashar found so objectionable. He admits he only reported it to seek "revenge".

      #Twitter is blocked but accessible in #Iran. via a VPN. It isn't illegal to use it. There was no "murder contract" issued in the original fatwa of #Khomeini. You are just an ignorant and stupid person. But I still support your right to tweet whatever noxious drivel you like here

      No. It is the expression of an opinion that @SalmanRushdie should be killed, it isn't a "murder contract". The tweet by @khamenei_ir quotes #Khamenei in 1990 as stating that the #fatwa is based on #Islamic law and is irrevocable. No direct threat against Mr. Rushdie was made.pic.twitter.com/XKUhW6lvcU

          The Fatwa was NOT at all based on divine verses or the verses of Holy Qur'aan. There is only one death punishment prescribed in Qur'aan & that is ONLY for a pre-meditated murder. Imam Khomeini was wrong to say that it is solid and irrevocable.

          There is the #Quran and there is also the #Sunnah (traditions of the Prophet). @SalmanRushdie was denounced for blasphemy and apostacy which, in some legal interpretations in #Islam, merits the dfeath penalty. In any case, nobody can reverse the #fatwa of #Khomeini but himself.
