"It’s been a great adventure for me to be so hated by people I hold in contempt." -- Roger Scruton, champion of freedom, RIP
Traditional conservatism, a specific flavor of freedom not incompatible with (a specific flavor of) state authority. Today we frequently deny that such beliefs could be consistent. GKC lived a hundred years too early, or at least we could use his philosophical successor.

Thanks for comment. Not buying this. Beliefs are not really consistent even with the late Roger. He indeed was a traditional conservative but his views still favoured the state in many situations and he somehow managed to convince himself that doing so implies individual freedom

I favor classical liberalism, but I can at least understand that there is room for a multi-variable surface of freedom. For instance, I’m for individual freedom in economics, but murder? Not so much. If we all paint in absolutes exclusively, we’ll end up in anarchy or in chains.
