In their eyes if i worked at a company, they would have been happier or felt more rest assured. I cant blame them either for this and personally I wouldn’t mind working at someone else’s game as long as I learn the experience. But that has to wait until Tadpole Tales is done

Hahahaha this is really interesting. At least in Romania, the people who MADE the industry started their own companies, and were only later bought out by bigger fish. That's what happened to Ubisoft RO (literally 2 guys who still work there), EA, Amber,
@nomoonstudio etc.1 odpowiedź 0 podanych dalej 2 polubione -
Look, at the end of the day you're doing all the right things. If you have a way to sustain yourself, and a plan to go forward with, that's what is important. There are arguments for being an indie dev (Toby Fox), for starting an indie studio (Payload Studios) and for working AAA

There's no right or wrong way and they're all in the same industry, so thankfully they are pretty interchangeable. You're in Romania, where you have a lot of advantages if you make it as an indie darling with amazing games (see Vlambeer's beginnings)

Don't take my word for it. Talk with
@frazermerrick and@BradleySmith93 about being a sustainable indie, book some time@tha_rami for a 20-30 min call or talk with@JoeKinglake if you want another perspective (amazing dev gone AAA).2 odpowiedzi 1 podany dalej 4 polubione -

As Chris says, there's no right or wrong way to get into or work inside the industry - it's all about finding our own ways. I sympathise a lot, people have & still question if games is really a career (new people i meet often forget to filter here!).

I often even question it myself but have slowly found security in my thoughts. It's great to share these feelings & express them. You're a part of a larger supportive community though that has you back & sees the work you do &admires it - we can all be here to lift each other up
