Question, does anyone ever get over that "new starter" feel? Whatever i do i continue feeling like i'm new basically forever, i've been at my current job 3 years now & making games a decade but i still feel new to both. I guess its just because there's so much to learn?

I don't know if there's some imposter overlap there, but the opposite has been true for me. Studios that make me feel welcome and that my opinions and insight is valuable make me forget my newness in a matter of weeks and I want to pass that same welcome on to other new starters

Interesting, there definitely could be overlap. I suppose i've never thought of it from the other way though like you say. Everywhere i've been has been super welcoming so maybe the new starter feel just settles very quickly. Interesting food for thought!

The more time I spend in the industry, the more value I place on culture, and now I'm in a place to foster/establish team culture its definitely risen in importance to making sure people feel welcome and not 'new'.

I think its more noticable if i'm in a place where I do not feel welcome, where people get territorial about the design work, their 'empire' not to be interfered with. I feel (or am made to feel) ignorant or like I don't know what I am talking about or should not be listened to

Absolutely, I've been pretty lucky/privileged that the design teams I've been a part of and am on now have all been pretty welcoming, lovely & filled with a lot of knowledgeable people to learn from. And that preach! I'm totally against the design empire mentality too.
