What do you use to go from the greyscale to colour? I've not yet figured out a good way to colourize my greys without it looking awful..
I start with different color layers to get a base for everything, then use gradient maps/softlight/overlay at different opacities to add on.

I still end up having to paint more on top of it though.

Gradient maps are great, maybe I need to stop being lazy with em. I haven't tried soft light or overlay for this, I sometimes use Hard Light

And color layers hate me for some reason. NEVER turn out how I want it. And yes paint on top of it all :) but a solid starting base helps!
