No this idea didn't come from the community, I don't believe this. "Confusion" happens in the comments when you remove the badge. Account verification shouldn't require Youtube's approval / endorsement. We want impartiality; we don't want the platform endorsing ANYONE at all.

YouTube have the most clear criteria for verification ever - 100k subs or more. Clearly not an endorsement of anyone and the least confusing out of any social media sites. Stupid change. Also did YouTube delete their tweet?

also they already remove verification for channels that change their name... probably the best way they could help official channels "differentiate themselves"
