Update to the story that has been making the rounds the past 2 days. I contacted security company that employed the security guard. They handled the issue swiftly, she is no longer employed w/the company. In addition they expressed their love, support, admiration for HPD officers

Glad she was fired.

It's people like her that give good security professionals a black eye! Her hatred for white police officers is what got her fired! Why else would you not help the officer out? My hat's off to the management of the company for firing her!! It was well deserved!!

I work for PD & Sheriff's. They say I am one of the best officer they have x 5yrs. I surveil 200 cams.. Electronic campus lockdowns. Active Shooter. 9mm trained but don't use it. Told not to intervene, only to observe & report to law enforcement.

Wow, so many cowards out there. If we want to live in a law abiding society, we all should step up and help. Growing up in Alaska, citizens often have to help Law Enforcement and we do so with pleasure.

This is the end of my tweets on this matter. It is what I said below. There is a difference of S.O. duties according to rank. Understand the difference. Minion Security Hero's end up dead for their career salary of $8-13/hr. It's Bullshit.

Even a comm. security officer that intervenes can be liable for their own legal fees if they injure or shoot an attacker. Most security companies bid security for 20+ and pay their employees $8-13/hr. Practically no training. Put in terrible locations, not me, I'm state empl.

I really can't believe you are trying to justify this woman's behavior. How about she act like a human and help a person who is fighting for his life?!

So then THIS should be the headline, not that she refused to put herself at risk for a job that often requires you don't get involved. Security guards are NOT expected to arrest suspects or get into physical contact with them.

Tk God I have 2 safe security positions, state & private. But, beware, I worked for others who did not care who they sent out as long as they had a body to fill a position. No, S.O.'s are not Blart the mall cop, they have specific duties to their rank the public don't understand

I would imagine also that security is damned if they do, and damned if they don't. Non commission S.O's get a 1 day test. A commission 40 hour 1 week course, 1 day shooting range training. Have to pass background cks, pay a fee TDPSPS. Sent out to "protect" deadly areas $8-13hr

To the people who don't know the difference between a Non Comm and Commissioned S.O. a non commissioned (unarmed) is most likely not coming to save you in a crime, they are only going to observe/report/call 911. Most self-proclaimed security heros die for $8-13/hr. Not bouncers

My PD & Sheriff bosses expect 2 things, observe & report. I responded to an alarm by going inside to disarm it. My bosses told me I shouldn;t have entered bldg to Call PD. They'd never expect me to confront, apprehend or detain. Not defending this S.O. actions, explaining duty

Clear in video: There's a trend of BLM, Blacks afraid of racial killing. expect to see exact future replica's of others videoing like situations. If on duty it WAS her duty to call 911/ radio "officer down" as a non comm S.O. it's NOT her duty to jump into violent PD fight...

Had I seen this incident in question happening. First thing would be radio call officer down since we are on PD/Sheriff frequency. I would not intervene. I would most likely video for evidence, turn it over to police. I'm sorry if this S.O. did not do that.

last yr a rape & abduct from a ATM on my shift. Couldn't see it on cams because I was required to alternate patrol. 1 S.O. on duty. Had I watched on cam, the victim still would be taken BTT I observed it, had to report to 911. Security's not comming 2 save u. I was not fired.

You are why chauvinism exists in law enforcement. Get a set of "guts" and help out
-
You are absolutely insane to suggest any person what so ever should ever jump into a police fight. No person should ever put theirself in danger. This is not chauvinism, and not my job. This is a police matter and what t-h-e-y are paid to do. I've helped 5yrs observing/reporting.

I work 2 S.O. jobs one private, one state. Neither require me to intervene or render aid, except 1st aide. Never to put myself in danger...basically observe, report, call police. On same radio GPD/GSD. After the Galv. S.O. fatality at San Luis. I won't approach. Bosses agree.
