Before he was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2020, Dametrius "Meechie" Walker was a highly recruited DE who had the attention of his dream team: Michigan.
Now, as he continues his fight, the Wolverines have embraced Meechie as one of their own.

Coaches have to be very intentional to really learn their players’ story. Their story is NOT their athletic talent, or what they do on the field. It’s who they really are - behind the mask they wear on the field and in the locker room.
Quote Tweet
Everyone on your team is telling themselves a story. It’s your job as a leader to know their story and help them tell a better story.

Belonging is a fundamental need of every student-athlete. To design and develop a culture of belonging demands intentional design and development. This is a critical step of transformational coaching. Connect students to transformational coaches in a culture of belonging.

Student-athletes want to know who you are, why you coach, why you coach the way you do, and how you are defining success for the team and individuals.
Quote Tweet
"In developing transformative relationships with student-athletes, the best way to do that is by sharing who you are, the process that you've engaged in, where you currently are as a coach, and still where you strive to become."

Stat speaks for itself. Stan was a great linebacker n always underrated. Probably our MVP on defense every year because of his play and ability to adjust n get us in right defense.

I had never seen that stat. Thank you. A similar thing happened when I was doing the radio broadcasts of the Ravens. TV flashed a stat the Ray Lewis had just moved to 2nd all time in takeaways by a linebacker with 50. And it showed that he passed me. Never knew that -Jack Ham 1st

I can go back to so much of @JoeEhrmann76 stuff when people ask why I don’t yell very often. My job is to put players in a position to make plays and win games. Yes, I do have to motivate from time to time, but yelling is more about the coach than it is about the player.

John Mackey was one of my best friends, our best NFLPA leader, an incredible teammate, and the greatest right end ever. He died 11 years ago today from CTE issues. His wife Sylvia still visits us and aided in creating The 88 Plan, which has been a huge help to others with CTE.

Possibly the greatest ever video that captures the phenomena of bad parenting in children’s sports.
The team at @OffyHuman has nailed it by showing the absurdity of the same parent abuse in another context – in this case at a children’s recital. Check out this masterpiece.

I paused and thought of the incredible love you have with Wendy and of her legacy that you carry to this day. If anyone reads this and has not signed up for organ donation then this is the Sacred Pause: stop, reflect, breathe through your heart, and contribute. Love you Jeffrey

Still with me always. Every day. And on her birthday I like to share Wendy with others.
If you knew Wendy, maybe you will pause to think about her. If you did not know her, perhaps you will think about a family member or best friend of your own.
