What cracks me up about these stories is that I immediately switch from still buying older games on these platforms to torching the concept entirely and moving on to emulation/alternatives. If it's not worth it to these companies why would it be worth it to me?

Just to short-cut December's Discourse: it's perfectly fine to put Dead Space on a GOTY list even though it's a remake.

One thing I really love about the new Dead Space that has nothing to do with the new Dead Space: EA didn't bury the original. You can still buy it. It's still a great game. You don't have to be embarrassed about the past.

This game is basically just a chill playable Saturday morning cartoon and I'm into it so far. So weird that they just shadow dropped it like this. I hope it doesn't get buried.

This can also be applied to why I found Destiny 2 year 1 pretty insufferable. In the Forsaken DLC they had to straight up murder Cayde-6 to fix the tone of the story. It worked pretty well and Destiny still has silly elements but they're sincere (see Star Horse)

There are parts of Half-Life 2 where they strain believability with Gordon's silence so hard, that it's almost as painful as this dialogue. Both can be bad.

A peek into what I was doing when I wasn't playing my top 10 games.
I love how Callisto Protocol does a bunch of survival horror things but fails at so many of them. Limited inventory makes the game such a chore to play unless you don't care about being optimal at all.

Took some time off and now that Christmas is over I don't have big plans outside of catching up on 2022 games. Dipped back into Elden Ring, Signalis, and started Pentiment today. All great, but I think I'm going to mainline Signalis now. It's very much my thing.

I either don't know or actively dislike these people, but even the streamers I follow could learn to not jump on every single negativity train that comes around. It gets very obvious after a while and shows how immature that profession is.

Immortality is one of the best games I've ever played, but I only know one or two people I'd personally recommend it to. If you're drawn to it, I think you'll find it as fascinating as I did, but you definitely have to vibe with what it's doing.

I hate to say it, but I think I've opened Hive to a black screen that never loads one too many times at this point. I really wanted to like it but it's just not ready to be used by a large population.
