If a dictator, in the midst of committing horrific and brutal war crimes on the world stage, took a moment to publicly defend me and what I stood for, I'd really start having second thoughts about what I stood for. But that's just me.

Seriously, if your perspective on life is "if I had to suffer for this, everyone else should too", you might want to rethink things. Because at the end of the day, you're pushing for other humans to suffer so you can feel better about your own life. And that's pretty awful.

I just saw a 56-year-old man crying in an interview after getting his son out of Borderline in Thousand Oaks. Apologizing over and over for surviving when kids were shot and killed. How many times are we going to let this happen?

The treatment for an ectopic pregnancy is abortion. The treatment for an incomplete miscarriage is abortion. People pretending that they're somehow something else, a "prettier" word, and not at all impacted by abortion laws are very very wrong. Abortion is healthcare.

I saw #DnDHonorAmongThieves today and... **VERY MINOR SPOILERS** ...the choice to make the central relationship in the movie a platonic one was both incredibly smart and surprisingly impactful. How many of us have forged or strengthened friendships at the gaming table?

And many of the current generation of comic creators started reading comics because of Batman the Animated Series and X-Men. What's your point? Monthly comics are a niche product almost exclusively sold in specialty stores. You have to give folks a REASON to seek them out.

USPS is a service, not a business. DeJoy needs to go.

U.S. mail deliveries slow down starting Friday under a 10-year cost-cutting plan by USPS Chief DeJoy — a Trump appointee with no prior USPS experience. ▪️ 40% first-class mail affected ▪️ Delays up to 5 days ▪️ Post office hours cut ▪️ Package shipping prices hiked for holidays

Social anxiety feels a lot like all of your relationships with other people are conditional/contractual, but you aren't allowed to read or even know anything about the Terms of Service.

Too many people seem to think: 1) Vaccines make you completely immune, eliminating the need for masking/distancing/other precautions. 2) If the vaccine DOESN'T make you completely immune (e.g. breakthrough infections) then it doesn't work at all. Both are dangerously wrong.

I was raised in a Christian household with the belief that the separation of church and state is one of the most important rights we have as Americans. Legislating human rights based on one interpretation of one (fairly diverse) religion is anti-American. #AbortionIsAWomansRight

The worst part about the #ComicsBrokeMe posts is that so many people didn't feel comfortable talking about the issues they've had until a friend and colleague died. We make comics because we love comics. No one should ever have to sacrifice their well-being for that.

In politics and the larger public conversation, there are so many people focused on winning and not preventing harm. Learning what is actually helpful/life-saving for people who are different than you. You don't have to fully understand people to care about and support them...

It's not just that they understand/admit how evil this is. It's that they understand that most WGA writers fighting for better pay have less than 5-6 months of savings. And they want to punish that desire for better pay by exploiting the financial insecurity THAT THEY CAUSED.

I was lucky enough to meet Kelly Marie Tran briefly, and she was incredibly nice to a comics writer who may have been geeking out a bit too much. It's fine to not like fictional characters. It's not fine to harass actual human people.

Comics are for everyone. There's no excuse for harassment. There's no place for homophobia, transphobia, racism or misogyny in comics. The existence of comics that don't appeal/aren't marketed to you isn't a personal attack or inherently political.

Anxiety and depression lie. They make you second-guess every relationship, every achievement, everything good in your life. No matter how good life is. Never feel guilty for seeking help. Never feel like you don't deserve it. Mental health issues affect all kinds of people.

But you have to take the time to study and verify facts. There's so much misinformation preying on fear and hatred, which leads to acting out of fear and hatred instead of caring and compassion. At the end of the day, Gov Cox says he wants kids to live. That's what's at stake...

When I was younger, I made the decision that, if my faith ever made me feel conflicted, I would always err on the side of love. Which is at the core of my faith anyway, so not a big stretch. I just wish we saw more people who felt that way, especially in positions of power...

The main thing Marie Kondo ACTUALLY told us was if something in our possession no longer brought us joy, we should thank it and let it go. If spending time with her kids now brings her more joy than tidying does, she's really just living by the same ethos she always has.

I hope that we'll see more people like Gov Cox across the aisle. People who we may not agree with on a lot of issues, but whom we can trust to make decisions and policy based on a compassionate view of the facts. In an ideal world, that would be everyone on BOTH sides.

CONTACT YOUR REPS. The US Postal Service is how many people get paid, get their medications, and ship items as a small business. And, of course, VOTING. It's essential that we prevent the collapse of the USPS. Can we get rid of this "must pre-fund 75 years of pensions" crap?

Unless you wrote AND drew it, you're ALWAYS a co-creator of a comic book character. Sequential storytelling depends on the interplay of writing and art. And Jack Kirby will always and forever be the king of comic art.

There's a misconception that actors doing ANY work right now is scabbing. That is false, and SAG-AFTRA is in fact encouraging its members to take work that falls under other contracts. Similarly, WGA members can still write comics, as that work isn't covered by a union contract.
Quote Tweet
The strike’s in regards to the TV/Theatrical SAG contract. We’ve ceased all work covered by this contract. TTRPGs aren’t under TV/Theatrical contract. Asking folks not to do them is like asking stage theatre to shut down when their agreement is not under negotiation here at all.

Yesterday, I realized the main reason I'm so conflict-adverse is that I've never in my life had a friendship that survived a serious fight. If conflict has ALWAYS meant that a person you care about abandons you as a result, of COURSE you'll bend over backwards to avoid it.
