I have a night off from the hospital. As I’m on my couch with my dog I can’t help but think of the Covid patients the last few days. The ones that stick out are those who still don’t believe the virus is real. The ones who scream at you for a magic medicine and that Joe Biden is
Going to ruin the USA. All while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm. They tell you there must be another reason they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that “stuff” because they don’t have COViD because it’s not real. Yes. This really happens. And
I can’t stop thinking about it. These people really think this isn’t going to happen to them. And then they stop yelling at you when they get intubated. It’s like a fucking horror movie that never ends. There’s no credits that roll. You just go back and do it all over again.

Wow, this is just chilling. Have you had any number of patients that have been convinced that this truly is real once they got sick?
Yes there are plenty who have done everything right, still get sick, and are so thankful for help. There’s been so many i am starting to not remember them all which is horrifying
I understand we’re not with you when these people are yelling at you, but I know you understand there are more of us in this world who are beyond appreciative of the work all you medical professionals are doing and not believing the garbage your patients unfortunately are.

Do you think that Covid causes some people to “turn mean”? I heard a story today about a guy who was hospitalized for several days and kept calling his family to come get him - and was quite mean about it. But afterwards when he did go home, he had no memory of it.
No. I think the ones I am seeing are just jerks. The people that have memory loss or stroke can get mean- but not saying things like the virus is t real
Years ago I wrote about HIV denialists, who insisted HIV was harmless and AIDS wasn't real. Some of them harassed me and called me a murderer for debunking their lies. The ones who did that are literally all dead now.
