    SingStar came out in a real golden era of gaming for everyone. It's sad to see its sunset, but almost 16 years since the first game is an amazing run, even out-lasting EyeToy and Buzz.

    I was a huge Buzz! fan and getting a job being an ACTUAL FRICKIN DESIGNER on the game was literally a dream come true.

    Games like SingStar got me back into gaming and had a profound effect on me, actually. I wrote about the "Fire it up" campaign in my MA dissertation. I spoke about that when I interviewed for a job at - the developer of Buzz!

    As a game designer, I wish I could say my interest in games never waned once in my life, but that's not true. I played games when I was a kid, but lost interest as I became a teenager. I felt self-conscious about having a pastime that was predominately seen as something for boys

    I was in my late teens/early twenties at the time, and I can remember so many drunken nights with my friends playing SingStar, Buzz! and EyeToy on repeat.

    SingStar was part of Sony's "Fire it up" campaign on PS2, along with Buzz! and EyeToy. These games came out at a time when the PS2 was deep into its life-cycle and there were a great many in ordinary homes across the world.
