it's also impossible to know when "talent" will kick in. I was not considered talented at smash from 2009-2013 but I am now
It's harder to pin point it with Melee cuz the journey to even being competent has such a high learning curve.

both of those conclusions are fine with me :) I don't know if it's truly possible to discern which was a bigger factor for me
