I've been struggling a lot mentally, but something happened this past weekend where thoughts of trauma resurfaced. I want to deny that these thoughts still exist, but I've come to terms w/ the fact that I'm never going to get better unless I share this:https://jackiechoe.wordpress.com/2018/08/19/recovery/ …

I guess by now you've gotten alot of support from your fans. That's great! As someone who struggled with depression, being on the edge of suicide, I want you to know one thing. It's okay to be happy & enjoy life. It's also okay to cry and pour your emotions out. Healing is hard.

Not to make this about me, but I didn't think I would make it to 2017. What changed? Opening up. Connecting with vibrant people, pouring my emotions out to people I felt comfortable being around. Sharing what had festered deep within in solidarity. Healing hurts at first.

Like a physical injury, you need to disinfect it before applying gauze to heal it. The metaphysical works the same way. Need to open up the traumatic past and settle it. Acknowledge it happened. Admitted what occurred. Don't bury it. Know that it's in the past now.

The past can only haunt you, but it can't hurt you. You are past that now. You are now living in a present that differs from the past. You have the opportunity for a few and better future. You have changed the world around you, its time to also change the world within you.

Changing your perspective is what helps distance yourself from the dark memories. The more you begin to see what is possible, the less you worry about what is perceived as lost. The glass is not half empty, but half full of wonderful things. Love & optimism cures all wounds.
