Have you met the average 16 year old? They can't even spell constitutional amendment. Goodness, how are they going to justify this one?

I believe that one's old enough to vote if they're old enough to fight overseas for our country. And I don't see the Democrats filing a Constitutional Amendment to lower the enlistment age to 16. People not old enough to join the military should have no say in politics.

By that logic the only people who should have a say in politics are those who serve. If you're going to base a standard off of what they can do then the standard must adhere to if they are within that standard.

If anything, the voting age should be raised to 20. Teenagers don't know enough about life to vote intelligently. Most teenagers have never had a real job, paid taxes, bought health insurance, supported themselves, etc.

“Intelligently?” Or just not how you want them to vote?

False.
#HR1 doesn't change the voting age. What it does is preregister people at 16 — a policy already used in 14 states to make it easier for people to vote when they turn 18. You clearly haven't even read the bill. You're a congressman, there's no excuse for your ignorance. - 2 more replies
