Oh, there will be a state of the unions. It will not be the gold standard which has withstood all the trials our country has had. But the President will have an event and it will talk about past accomplishments and future goals. I have a feeling it will be incredible

All 800,000 workers need to stay home until the shutdown is over. This is becoming a form of modern day slavery.

Oh, please. People get laid off and have to get other jobs. Regular Americans are totally forgotten. If these 800k non-essential employees are non-essential - why are they employed in the first place.

Dems won 53% of the vote; not 100%. People voted for many diff reasons for Dems. Accountable is perhaps pushing other policies and oversight. Not sure that accountability, intellectual pimp, means stopping a SOTU first time in 100 years.

Maybe not. He could have got this bill through the House at any time in the past two years. Maybe he just wanted to pick a fight with the Dems as cover for dismantling more of the government.
