I think he uses them as well when talking about 35mm projection. I always found the "imperfections" annoying, especially after my local theater switched to digital.

Wasn't he a video store clerk at one point? I feel like he's trying to pass of what he might have did as the norm for what goes on at all rental stores.

I agree. Only ONCE in all the yrs I went to video stores did a clerk recommend a set of films to me (unasked). He said "You wanna see something GREAT? Anything by John Waters." Other than that the clerks were all very disinterested.

He went from store clerk to screenwriter to director, his store was how it should have been run before chains ran it into the ground. People who worked there knew movies weren't high schoolers passing the time.
